MSN Messenger 2009: wlcomm.exe

Ciao a tutti!
Ho installato ieri il nuovo msn messenger.

Sfogliando tra i processi attivi ora non risulta soltanto msnmsgr.exe ma pure un certo wlcomm.exe.
Ho scoperto essere parte di msn dal momento che, terminandolo, mi si chiudeva msn.

Come mai sono due file differenti? A cosa serve questo secondo file?

Oltretutto il nuovo processo mi occupa (al momento) 29.366 Kb, mentre il file msnmsgr.exe 25.312 Kb. Praticamente il doppio del vecchio msn!

According to quick google results WLCOMM is part of the Windows Live Messenger Contacts Server. It keeps your contacts info up to date and supposedly provides faster log-in speeds. My guess is it provides a base point for Windows Live contacts integration across different Microsoft software packages like Office and Internet Explorer. So if you added a contact in Outlook for example, that contact may be available in Live Messenger.

msnmsgr.exe is the live messenger application itself.
wlcomm.exe is the live services contacts manager

per straycar:
in sintesi dice che quel processo fa parte del server di msn per i contatti. permette di avere i contatti sempre aggiornati e di aumentare la velocità di log-in.
in più permette di realizzare un collegamento con altri programmi di microsoft quali office e internet explorer. così per esempio aggiungendo un contatto in outlook, sarà disponibile anche in msn.
