    (slackware) vmware

    ciao sto cercando di capire come funziona vmware ma ho subito un problema. Con slack dopo aver creato rc0.d .... rc6.d ho installato vmware, l'ho fatto partire mi si è aperto vmware virtual machine console chiedendomi di connettermi ad un host locale o remoto: ma che ci va li? pensavo l'host fosse la slack e guests le macchine virtuali linux che installerò!

    Scusa perche' usi la versione server e non la workstation?

    per evitare di mettere troppi servizi sulla stessa macchina, ne ho solo una che posso usare come server.

    quando cerco di loggarmi da remoto in VMware management interface mi da questo errore :

    vmware-authd: error while loading shared libraries: libpam.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    , non si può installare libpam.so.0 su slackware? altrimenti VMware non funge ...
    inoltre durante l'installazione di VMware management interface ho avuto sto problema :

    Can't exec "/etc/init.d/httpd.vmware": No such file or directory at /usr/bin/vmware-config-mui.pl line 6828.

    si ...comunque leggendo bene la guida di vmware gsx ho notato che è necessario il processo inetd attivo, e penso ci sia solo sulle distro tipo server (sbaglio?). Come posso installarlo e da dove?


    vmware workstation non può essere usato per virtualizzare macchine server? si può simulare una rete ethernet dove ogni virtual machine può essere raggiunta da qualsiasi pc?

    ...allora ho installato vmware workstation 5 su slackware e ho creato un amacchina virtuale. Adesso non riesco ad installarci il linux guest, ne Slackware, che prima mi dice di creare una partizione ma poi non permette di usare cfdisk per crearla, ne Fedora. Non capisco cosa sbaglio!
