Quando la vado a installare con Yast mi dà questo errore:
'CUPS daemon died during initialization'
E' una epson stylus photo 830. Quando avevo la fedora 1 funzionava per bene. Non capisco proprio perchè adesso fa storie. Che sia il nuovo kernel 2.6 causa di tutto ciò ?

prova a vedere perche cups muore(poverino )
da consolle di root dai questo comando e guarda che dice
/etc/init.d/cups restart
prima magari da yast cerca i pacchetti che riguardano cups foomatic gimprint ed installali
potrebbe mancare qualche file
Ecco perchè cups muore:
Shutting down cupsd done
Starting cupsdcupsd: Child exited with status 1!
failed
cosa vuole dire?
Possibile che manchino dei pacchetti? come faccio a installarlI?

per installare i pacchetti basta aprire yast e dalla gestione software (installa/rimuovi )
metti come chiave di ricerca i nomi che ti ho detto
ti trova tutti i pacchetti che hanno nel nome o nelle descrizioni quei nomi e tu li devi semplicemente selezionare
se da consolle di root dai il comando
lsmod
e lo incolli nel post si puo vedere se è un problema di moduli usb o della prallela se è parallela la stampante

i moduli vanno bene
prova a dare un
modprobe ehci-hcd
e ritentare la configurazione
Niente. Ho provato a installare quei pacchetti tranne foomatic che non lo trova sul ftp della suse e gimprint(idem,non lo trova).
Ho lanciato da shell l'ultimo comando e non fa niente.

hai acceso la stampante prima di avviare il pc ?
fai il login come root controlla il file
/var/log/cups/error_log
magari incollalo
