salve a tutti!
1° messaggio in un forum linux!
Cmq andiamo al sodo:ho ubuntu 5.10 su un portatile con connessione adsl ethernet e scheda video ati mobility radeon 9700.
problemi:
1)l'adsl non si connette al boot nonostante io l'abbia cinfigurata in modo appropriato in pppoeconf... ho letto di cancellare sul file /etc/network/interfaces tutto quello ke viene dopo "added by pppoeconf" anche se non sò se sia valido ho provato ma mi apre il file in sola lettura e non sapendo come fare ad aprirlo come root non ho potuto fare nulla.
2)avevo intenzione di giocare a world of warcraft con wine su ubuntu ma ho scoperto ke il 3d non è abilitato... come faccio ad abilitarlo?

so solo dirti come fare ad aprire il file da root... per passare a root da shell puoi dare:
sudo -s
poi metti la tua password utente e passi a root.
a quel punto se lanci
gedit
ti apre gedit come root e ti modifichi quello che vuoi.
se poi devi fare modifiche fuori dall'ambiente desktop dai
nano nomefiledaaprire
e te lo cambi di lì

lascia perdere wine.
il significato di wine è Wine Is Not (an) Emulator. almeno per quel poco che ho visto io... è proprio terribile.
più di questo non so dirti...

innanzitutto grazie!
ho fatto quello che mi hai detto ma purtroppo non me lo apre e non capisco perkè!
Senti ma... io da shell(console giusto?)ho fatto come dici ma non mi si è aperto nulla... allora ho provato ad andare tramite file manager ma nada.
Cosa ho sbagliato?
riguardo all'accellerazione 3d sulla mia scheda video come posso abilitarla? thx a lot

e poi abilitare so xorg.conf i fglrx posto il mio xprg.conf
