Tag <embed> e xhtml 1.1

Pare che, questo tag, il dtd dell'xhtml 1.1 e anche dell'xhtml 1.0 strict non lo digerisce.
D'altra parte, se non metto questo tag, i browser mozilla firefox non mostrano il filmato in flash....come si fa? Ovviamente il dtd deve ASSOLUTAMENTE rimanere xhtml 1.1
