Aggiungo che il pc dietro router non è pingabile da remoto. Sto provando ora dal portatile connesso al modem 56k qui a casa e pc connesso alla rete ADSL e appunto non me lo pinga.

Allora, il test di diagnosi del router mi ha restituito un "fail" per quanto riguarda il ping da conexant.com.
L'help mi da queste spiegazioni in merito ai ping falliti:
Ping Gateway
This test returns PASS if the gateway can be reached through a ping request. The gateway is assigned by your service provider, or obtained from your service provider by PPP or DHCP negotiation.
If this test returns FAIL, run this test again a few minutes after this test is completed. If this test returns FAIL consistently and your DSL modem seems not working, check to make sure your statically assigned IP address is configured correctly or the DHCP client is enabled on with the current VC.
This test returns SKIPPED if the "IP Assignment" test does not return PASS.
Ping Host
This test returns PASS if the host specified by your ISP can be reached through a ping request.
If this test returns FAIL, run this test again a few minutes after this test is completed. If this test returns FAIL consistently and your DSL modem seems to not be working, contact your service provider for further information
This test returns SKIPPED if the host name can not be resolved to an IP address.
Ping Primary Domain Name Server
This test returns PASS if the primary DNS can be reached through a ping request. The primary DNS is assigned by your service provider or obtained from your service provider by PPP or DHCP negotiation.
If this test returns FAIL, run this test again a few minutes after this test is completed. If this test returns FAIL consistently and your DSL modem seems to not be working, check to make sure your statically assigned primary DNS IP address is configured correctly or DHCP client is enabled with the current VC.
This test returns N/A if there is no DNS configured.
Mi sa che è un problema a livello di servizio ADSL.

per renderlo pingabile dovresti redirezionare le porte del ping dal router al pc...
il router puo' non essere pingabile se non ha questo servizio attivato

Ebbene, anche con questo persiste lo stesso problema!
Abbiamo controllato la configurazione col tecnico che mi seguiva passo passo al telefono ma non c'è nulla da fare. Ho persino provato a cambiare i cavi...
Adesso mi viene il dubbio che ci sia un qualcosa nella rete.
E se provassi a disinstallare la scheda di rete, il tcp/ip e riconfigurare tutto ex novo ricollegando poi il router?

Avevo attivato il firewall di Libero ADSL, ecco spiegato il tutto!
La cosa che mi fa arrabbiare è che avevo chiesto lumi al 155 e mi avevano risposto che se navigavo normalmente non era un problema loro!
ma non potevano dirmela sta cosa del firewall sulla linea? E poi; chi l'ha attivato?
Comunque son troppo contento per essere riuscito a far funzionare il tutto.
