ricavare da stringa valore delimitato da [ e ]

salve a tutti,

ho una stringa molto lunga, piena di variabili, testo html ..ecc

in una parte di questa c'è un valore numerico delimitato da [ e ] ...come posso fare ad estrarlo senza fare i vari tagli left, mid, right, ecc ... ?
