Problema con mouse USB

Ciao a tutti, ho un problema fastidioso con il mouse usb e SimplyMepis 6.5.
Se accendo il notebook con il mouse già connesso, non funziona, devo staccarlo e riattaccarlo, allora funziona.
Con altri sistemi operativi (sia *nix che windows) non ho mai avuto problemi con quel mouse.
Nel menu di configurazione di X di Mepis ho spuntato la voce "usb mouse" ma niente.

In realtà sono quasi sicuro che il problema sia a monte di X, nel senso che sia proprio il sistema operativo che non vede/cerca il mouse al boot. E poi X mi sembra configurato correttamente, difatti quando stacco e riattacco il mouse funziona a /var/log/messages mi dice che ha trovato il mouse.
Qualcuno sa dirmi dove andare a mettere le mani?

prima prova a riconfigurare xserver uscendo da x ( console login dal menu di kdm o da gdm)

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

ti permette di rifare la configurazione ex-novo

altrimenti puoi provare a commentare tutte le varie sezioni che non riguardano il mouse usb
tipo mouse seriali ps2 wacom Touchpad , , , ,

io ho un 2.6.15

comunque adesso riprovo a fare la configurazione di X, ma ripeto che secondo me il problema è a monte...

controlla anche che siano caricatii moduli usb

sudo modprobe hid
sudo modprobe uhci-hcd
sudo modprobe ehci-hcd
sudo modprobe usbhid

oppure

sudo modprobe usbmouse

Penso che, come al solito, tu abbia centrato l'obiettivo. Allora, se cerco quei moduli, con mouse connesso all'accensione non funzionante:

aggiungili in /etc/modules.

Cavolo non ci sto capendo più niente, li ho aggiunti in /etc/modules e dopo il riavvio:

e il modulo hid?? perchè non lo ha caricato e perchè non lo trova? E il mouse infatti non funziona...
Se lo stacco e lo riattacco funziona (anche se il modulo hid continua a non esserci) e questo è quello che esce da /var/log/messages

No, il modulo ohci_hcd è già caricato all'avvio. Comunque al boot, subito dopo grub, noto questi messaggi che non mi piacciono:
