Aggiornamento BIOS

Salve.

Sto provando e riprovando ad aggiornare il bios di una vecchia schema madre ma senza successo; queste le istruzioni scaricate dal sito della casa che produce la MB:

BIOS Flashing Steps
================================================== =========================
1: Make a DOS boot diskette without autoexec.bat and config.sys files.
Copy the PHLASH.EXE, PLATFORM.BIN, and unzipped BIOS
image(ex.0404.ROM) files to this diskette.

2: Turn the system off, then boot the system using the boot diskette
you just created. Then type
PHLASH/MODE=3 0404.ROM(say if you wanna to update to rev. 0404)
and press [ENTER].

3: It will now update the flash BIOS. If flash memory has been
successfully programmed, it will ask you to press any key to power off
the system. If the system does not off, turn the power off then on.

4: Assuming that you have successfully flashed the BIOS. After the system
reboots, hit [F2] to enter the CMOS Setup. At this point, go to
"Load Setup Defaults" field at "Exit" sub-menu. Then save and exit Setup.
If screen resolution has shrunk after you restart, please reset your
display resolution to 1024*768 and color to 16 bit.

Ho creato il floppy d'avvio senza autoexec.bat e config.sys, ho scompattato i files contenenti l'update del bios e li ho caricati sullo stesso floppy d'avvio, il pc si avvia ma quando digito la stringa di comando:

PHLASH/MODE=3 0404.ROM

Mi appare questo msg d'errore:

Cannot flash when memory managers (e.g. HIMEM) are present

PRESS ANY KEY TO EXIT

e non riesco ad andare avanti.

Premi F5 quando ti chiedono di premere 1 tasto a caso dopo l'errore e dopodichè ti chiedono di confermare se usi win98 o 95 tu confermi e parte l'installazione...

E' una cosa che ho trovato sul forum di un sito americano digitando il tuo errore quindi non so se è una cosa sicura.. tu provala e poi se mai fai 1 ricerca sul google digitando l'errore.
