Ma scusa REMOTE_HOST ritorna già l'HOST name del server, tentando, appunto una gethostbyaddr($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']);


gethostbyaddr ottiene l'host dall'indirizzo, ma tu gli passi già l'host name...
