Ti genera un file pfb perché stai convertendo un font True Type
a quanto ne so quel tipo di font va istallato attareverso programmi appositi tipo adobe type manager o simili.
In alternativa prova con font thing: http://members.ozemail.com.au/~scef/tft.html

Tuttavia, pur non usando crossfont, credo che .pfm e .pfb dovrebbe crearteli insieme visto che entrambi sono componenti dello stesso font.

Type 1 Fonts Under Windows:
Two files are required to use a Type 1 font under Windows. The PFB file contains the actual font outline data. The PFM file contains metric data including kerning.
