Paging (datagrid)

Salve scusate oltre ad impostare le 2 proprietà su TRUE (AllowPaging & AllowCustomPaging) cos'altro serve per ottenere il paging .... le freccette (<Prev >Next) ci sono ma non funziano !!!!!

l'OnPageIndexChanged si, ma la cosa strana è che sono costretto ad usare AllowCustomPaging su TRUE altrimenti mi dà quest'errore:

AllowCustomPaging must be true and VirtualItemCount must be set for a DataGrid with ID DGrid1 when AllowPaging is set to true and the selected datasource does not implement ICollection.
======================================

m'è venuto un dubbio .... dato che uso un DataReader per leggere i dati .... non vorrei che .... si tartti dell'oggetto meno adatto !!!
