Ha installato i driver nvidia pacchettizati suse con yast? se si, dovresti trovarti in /etc/X11 un file XF86Config.YaST2save...

dai un bel mv /etc/X11/XF86Config /etc/X11/XF86Config.old
e poi ln -s /etc/X11/XF86Config.YaST2save /etc/X11/XF86Config

a me ha funzionato, io ho cmq un sistema x86 32 bit.
