ho decommentato i repository in sources.list, ma non trovo molti software che mi piacerebbe installare:
realplayer, vlc, amsn (in realtà questo c'è ma dice che mancano delle cose e non lo installa)
mi sapreste dare supporto?

Si, Ubuntu e` debian-based. Il mio consiglio e` di usare repository non ufficiali solo per software che altrimenti non potresti scaricare (codecs ecc...). Per il resto, soprattutto per quello che riguarda la distro, commenta e lascia solo quelli ufficiali.

in sources.list ho aggiunto l'indirizzo per vlc.
aggiorno e vado in synaptic, marco vlc per l'installazione e mi fa:

vlc:
Dipende: libdvbpsi2 but it is not installable

Dipende: libflac4 but it is not installable

perchè?

copio e incollo così com'è levando il mio? (lo backuppo con mv )

sudo mv /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.old

poi crei un file in cui incollare il contenuto, lo salvi come sources.list e poi
sudo cp /path/in/cui/si/trova/sources.list /etc/apt

col tuo sta installando vlc, ma non capisco il perchè!
io avevo i repository di default e ho aggiunto quelli di vlc!!!
