Download and install Cleanup! from here

Reboot your pc in safemode

-Click Start.
-Open My Computer.
-Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
-Select the View tab.
-Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
-Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
-Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
-Click Yes to confirm.
-Click OK.

Using Windows Explorer, locate and delete the following file in bold:
C:\WINDOWS\system\smss.exe (don't delete the legitimate file present in System32)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvcd.exe

Start CleanUp! and click the Options button.
Make sure only the following are checked:
Empty Recycle Bins
Delete Cookies
Delete Prefetch files (XP only)
Scan local drives for temporary files
Cleanup! All Users
Click the Ok button to close the Options dialog.
Click the CleanUp! button to begin cleaning.
It may take a while depending on the size of the hard drive so be patient.
When it has finished, close CleanUp and reboot when prompted.

reboot in normal mode

-Click Start.
-Open My Computer.
-Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
-Select the View tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading UNSELECT Show hidden files and folders.
-Check the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
-Click Yes to confirm.
-Click OK.
