Salve a tutti
ho installlato per la prima volta ieri FC5 da dvd, prima avevo mdk 2006
ho controllato con sh1sum tutto ok, il dvd masterizzato corretamente, sembrava tutto ok ma:

è troppo lenta c'e qualcosa che non va

grub ci mette 13 secondi prima di farmi sceglire

il sistema ci mette circa 8 minuti prima di essere caricato completamente

ma anche dopo tutti i programmi sono lentissimi, per intenderci partono, non mi danno crash
ma ci mattono tanto

ad esempio per avviare il terminale da gnome ci mette 12 15 secondi

è la prima volta che mi sucede una cosa cosi
io ho:
amd 1800 mhz
256 mB ram a 400
hd 5400 l'ho istallato su una partizione da 8 giga
le altre partizioni che ho fatto swap 500mb /boot 500mb, la partizione di swap in realta non la ho formatata di nuovo, c'e l'avevo gia

qualche idea:?

Prova a verificare di avere impostato il DMA sui dischi fissi.
Verifica se l'attesa e' dovuta al tentativo di connettersi ad un host remoto, irraggiungibile.

dimenticavo ho anche fatto update immadiatamente con l'installazione

altri dati

firefox 12 secondi
openoffice writer 42 secondi

i programmi si avviano e funzionano ma devo aspettare parecchio e comunque un po in prestazioni ho notato
che ne risentono

/etc/hosts

era :

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain hostname

io ho sostituito

hostname con il valore della variabile hostname che ho trovato nella bash scriveto set invio


2) stavo tentando di fare :

hdparm /dev/hdd

ma non va mi dice hdparm non esiste

provo a cercare con yum di installarlo

eppure sono come utente root

se faccio

yum install hdparm

mi dice

nothing to do

ma dalla shell non lo trova

è normale ? è la prima volta che uso yum e fedora

qualche idea?

magari hdparm non e' nel path attualmente visibile da root.
dovresti trovarlo sotto "/sbin" o "/usr/sbin",
alla peggio cercalo con find/locate
