    Installazione stampante

    Vi premetto che sono un "nuovo" sia del forum che dell'utilizzo di Linux.
    Ho installato Suse 10.0 parallelamente a windows xp. Ho un problema con l'installazione della stampante. fondamentalmente la stampante rimane morta. Nessun segno di vita.
    Si tratta di una hp laserjet 1018 usb. Mi sono scaricato il file PPD da linuxprinting, poi vado su Yast, cerco di configurare la stampante ma non da nessun segno di attività. ho sentito parlare di usare CUPS ma non ho idea di cosa sia.
    Vi ringrazio per l'aiuto

    per le stampanti hp non esistono problemi di sorta su linux.

    fondamendalmente hai bisogno di due cose:
    1) che sia installato cups;
    2) che sia installato il pacchetto che offre i driver per le stampanti hp.

    per il secondo non conosco il nome del pacchetto che comunque inizia con hpj_e_poi_qualcos'altro.

    quando lo installi ne riparliamo

    allora.....ho installato i pacchetti per CUPS. per quanto riguarda i driver della stampante, ho installato i pacchetti "hplip", "hplip-hpijs" e "hp-OfficeJet" (sebbene quest'ultimo mi abbia dato dei problemi, perchè mi dice di completare l'installazione manualmente facendo riferimento ad un documento in inglese che riporta numerosi comandi da inserire nella shell che non ho la minima idea di cosa vogliano dire....).
    Fammi sapere.....

    per i driver ti bastava leggere la descrizione ed installare quello che ti serviva per la tua stampante.

    adesso dovresti avviare (se non lo sono gia) i servizi di stampa cups, hplip. altri credo non servano o di solito dovrebbero esserci gia (in caso posta).

    ora per installarla io conosco due vie.
    se hai gnome usi gnome-cups-managaer.
    usi il browser puntanto su localhost:631 (dovresti aver avviato apache)

    se usi kde penso che esistano altre cose che non conosco.
    in tutti i casi basta selezionare la stampante e la porta che dovrebbe chiamarsi hp e qualcosa.

    vediamo...da dove partire....
    intanto uso GNOME
    se uso il browser, mi chiede user e password per CUPS, io inserisco "root" piu relativa password e mi da errore. (che password vuole????)
    se invece eseguo da shell gnome-cups-manager, mi da una sfilza di errori infinita iniziale tipo "** (gnome-cups-manager:8261): WARNING **: model named 'LANIER LD122 PS' doesn't have a recognized structure" (sono tutti simili, cambia qualche nome e i numeri) oppure "** (gnome-cups-manager:8261): WARNING **: Two ppds have driver == '1.3'
    ->manufacturer-PPDs/sharp/shdm4551.ppd.gz (Sharp DM-4551 PS, 1.3[0]) and
    ->manufacturer-PPDs/sharp/sh4551j.ppd.gz (Sharp DM-4551 PS, 1.3)[0]"
    (idem come sopra)

    comunque mi parte l'applicazione e configuro la stampante
    a questo punto, vado per stampare la pagina di prova e non ottengo nessun segno di vita, solo un messaggio di errore nella shell "** (gnome-cups-manager:8998): WARNING **: connect = 'usb://HP/LaserJet%201018'"

    cosa ne pensi? è forse un problema strettamente di connessione usb?
    confido in un tuo aiuto e ti ringrazio per il tempo che stai perdendo con me!

  6. #6
    come si chiama di preciso la porta che usi?

    inserendo il cavo usb della stampante e scrivendo dmesg nel terminale che output ottieni?

  7. #7
    questa stampante sembra poco supportata da linux
    funziona parzialmente con i driver consigliati qui

    http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_dr...-LaserJet_1020
    e devi seguire le istruzioni sul sito dei driver http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/
