Problema Wireless 2200BG

Buona sera a tutti,
espongo un problema che non riesco a risolvere riguardo la sk PRO/Wireless 2200BG integrata sul mio notebook.
Ho installato Mandriva 2007 sul mio portatile, tutto ok, salvo la suddetta sk, faccio presente che sullo stesso portatile avevo Mandriva 2006 e funzionava correttamente, ho eseguito la stessa procedura ma non funziona; praticamente ho scaricato l'ultimo firmware, l'ho decompresso e copiato in /lib/firmware, ho caricaro il modulo ipw2200 ma niente da fare. Tutte le ricerche che ho effettuato anche su questo forum praticamente riportano la procedura da me seguita.
E cambiato qualcosa con la 2007, ho sto sbagliando?
