help con mod rewrite

voglio riscrivere un url in modo che da

http://www.gayspace.it/mionome

mi porti a

http://www.gayspace.it/profilo/index.php?utente=mionome


creo il mio .htaccess:

RewriteEngine On

RewriteRule ^([^/]+) profilo.php/index.php?utente=$1 [NC]


ma mi da questo errore:

Perché hai messo come flag N e C? il primo ti porta a fare dei cicli che ovviamente non intercetti altrove e quindi vai in loop continuo.
