Sto cercando di installare i driver di linux per quasta scheda wireles
sistema op. mandriva 2007 kernel 2.6.17-5mdv

Driver lName:
rt61.o/rt61.ko
Supporting Kernel:
inux kernel 2.4 and 2.6 series.
Tested in Redhat 7.3 or later.
Description:
This is a linux device driver for Ralink RT61 a/b/g WLAN Card.
Contents:

Build Instructions:
1> $tar -xvzf RT61_Linux_STA_Drv_x.x.x.x.tar.gz
go to "./RT61_Linux_STA_Drv_x.x.x.x/Module" directory.
2> $cp Makefile.4 ./Makefile # [kernel 2.4]
or
$cp Makefile.6 ./Makefile # [kernel 2.6]
or
$cp Makefile.RTL865x ./Makefile # big endian platform
3> [kernel 2.4]
$chmod 755 Configure
$make config

4> $make all

5> $cp rt2561.bin /etc/Wireless/RT61STA/ # copy firmware
$cp rt2561s.bin /etc/Wireless/RT61STA/
$cp rt2661.bin /etc/Wireless/RT61STA/

6> $dos2unix rt61sta.dat

B) go to "./RT61_Linux_STA_Drv_x.x.x.x/Module" directory.

Quì c'é un howto (per ubuntu) per un chip simile al tuo.

Se risolvi fai sapere che mi interessa, dovrei installarla su di una Knoppix e (forse) anche su di una Mandriva 2007.

A proposito, che wireless hai, di preciso ? Io ho una D-Link DWL-G122.

E provare ad installare qualche altro kernel, magari più aggiornato (o "multimedia") per vedere se non ce l'avvesse già compilato ?

Ed usare il driver x win con ndiswrapper ?

guarda se ha installato gia' il modulo

modprobe -l | grep rt61

o lsmod per vedere se è caricato

nella mia mandriva 2007.0 non esiste come modulo

non me lo trova tra i moduli disponibili da caricare

Ma hai provato con lsmod | grep rt ?
A me pare che quell'errore lo dia quando c'è caricato un modulo con lo stesso nome...

in quel caso dai
rmmod rt61
insmod rt61.ko

ti dice se è presente o no.
