[Inglesisti a me!] Grattacapo durante una traduzione

Ciao a tutti,

ho un'amica che deve tradurre dei racconti ma ha dei problemi su alcune frasi, con particolare riguardo alle parole in maiuscolo.

C'è qualcuno che ha voglia di aiutarla ?

Proto-macho lo puoi benissimo tradurre come Proto-macho per me, la frase sarebbe "Non é che mi vergogni di essere stato nell'esercito, o di avere un atteggiamento da "Proto macho che non mette in discussione/non discute la guerra", é solo che ne avevo abbastanza di parlarne" (tradotto alla cavolo)

No, é più offensivo. A primo acchito é tipo stronzetto o giù di lì

Prog rock sta per Progressive rock, é un genere musicale
Claptrap secondo Garzantilinguistica vuol dire o imbonimento o sproloquio.
Colloquialmente vuol dire anche "Roba poco sincera". Nel contesto indica l'uso di iconografia ritrita e fasulla nel genere musicale, non mi viene il termine giusto, dire "fesserie" non rende bene.

E' tipo una filastrocca per bambini

"Feci l'errore di restare con mia madre -- (disse) lei con i raggi colpevolizzanti (Guilt é colpa, senso di colpa, Rays raggi, é tradotto alla cavolo) che emanavano dalle sue orbite.

Umbilicaled letterariamente é traducibile con "Ombelicata", nel senso che la power-line é collegata agli alloggiamenti. Short timer non ti so dire esattamente, probabile si riferisca a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Short-Timers un libro da cui é tratto lo stesso Full metal Jacket.

Questa onestamente non te la so dire, deve essere un phrasal verb

Palmettoes dovrebbero essere delle palme

Roadkill http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roadkill é un termine per indicare gli animali uccisi per sbaglio dalle macchine di passaggio

Brangus é il nome (dotato di trademark, quindi lo lascerei proprio così) di una tipologia di bestiame

I makeshift trailer parks dovrebbero essere delle piazzole di parcheggio per i tir, ma non so bene

uno che si atteggia a duro ma non lo è
si potrebbe anche tradurre con cagasotto

trailer park sono i parcheggi di roulotte e camper in cui si vive. mi pare
(vedi "8 mile", "sotto accusa")

"makeshift" significa "temporaneo, fatto in fretta in mancanza di meglio", quindi "makeshift trailer parks" sarebbe quacosa tipo "parcheggi per roulotte improvvisati".

"Out processing" è un termine militare (più o meno, si usa anche in altri casi), sarebbe l'insieme delle procedure burocratiche che seguono il completamento di qualcosa (corso di addestramento, periodo in ospedale, trasferimento, etc. etc.). "Barracks" è "caserma", ma anche "uffici" in questo caso. Non so come si potrebbe tradurre bene in italiano.
