[Debian Etch] Lentezza generale

Beh, mentre aspetto la risposta nell'altro post, aggiungo pure questo.

Debian sul mio portatile, è di una lentezza esasperante.

Che compiter ho? Questo:

- Intel Pentium M (Centrino) 1,75 Mhz
- 1,5 Gb di memoria ram
- HD Sata da 80 Giga (diviso in 3 partizioni: 60 giga a linux, 1 di swap e il restante a windows)

Ho provato di tutto: ottimizzazioni varie, hdparm (che non funziona su dischi sata

) ma permane una lentezza generale sul sistema.

Lentezza quando passo da una finestra all'altra, oppure, semplicemente, guardo le foto! Sembra impossibile, ma per una foto in media di 1 mega e mezzo, ci mette a volte anche 5-6 secondi per visualizzarla! Tant'è vero che spesso e volentieri mi tocca guardarle su windows.

Io pensavo fosse un problema di settaggi HD (tipo dma non attivato), ma hdparm mi segnala che l'UDMA è attivo e a livello 6.

Pure firefox fatica a "scrollare" le finestre e a volte si incanta per 2-3 secondi nel passaggio da un tab all'altro. E aMsn si blocca per 1-2 secondi ogni 6 mentre digito qualcosa...

Suggerimenti?

guarda con top da terminale che processi ci sono attivi e chi ruba ram e processore

Xorg mi arriva anche al 40% di utilizzo.... avrò sbagliato qualcosa nella configurazione?

firefox-bin mi suona strano

se stai usando firefox installato manualmente prova ad usare quello di sistema

hdparm -Tt /dev/sda ( o quello che è ) che valori da in scrittura ??

No no, uso iceweasel ^__^
Usava molto processore perché c'era qualche altri sito aperto.

non è che magari è attivato lo scaling della cpu?

32.56 MB/sec è una cosa decente per un portatile

guarda dai log in /var/log de vedi qualcosa di anomalo

lo scaling della cpu potrrrebbe dare questi problemi ma mi sembra esagerato un rallentamento simile

non è un problema,è una feature,piuttosto :P
imposta la frequenza della cpu al massimo e vedi se hai ancora rallentamenti.
(comunque quei valori sono veramente alti,molto strano).
