Problemi con ATI e UBUNTU 7.10

Salve a Tutti

il mio computer è un AMD Athlon 1 GHz 512 Mb di RAM e Scheda video Ati Radeon 9600 256 mb S.O. Ubuntu 7.10

Il problema è questo

Sia tramite "Envy" sia tramite "Gestione Driver con restrizioni" installo i driver ma l'accelerazione 3d non funziona
Addirittura se scrivo sul terminale " glxinfo | grep rendering" la risposta è YES ma se digito "fgl_glxgears"

Usando giochi 3d Come Chromium o Alien Arena vedo solo uno schermo nero
I driver sono 8.40.4

Avete qualche suggerimento per risolvere il problema?

Eppure Con Ubuntu 7.04 andava tutto OK!
Andavo su Gestione driver con restrizioni installavo i driver e il 3D andava liscio come l'olio
Gli effetti Desktop non mi interessano
Nessuno sa dirmi cosa vogliono dire questi messaggi di errore quando uso il comando fgl_glgears?
