[ubuntu 7.10]compiz non va! xke?

ho installato le impostazioni x compiz, però andando in preferenze>effetti visivi e mettedo custom mi dice: Desktop effects could not be enabled come mai?

I driver della scheda video con tutta probabilità non sono installati....
il direct rendering non essendo attivo non può gestire le funzioni 3d di compiz, usa envy sia x ati che nvidia e installi tutto...
Ah cmq nel nuovo aggiornamento di compiz sulla 7.10 io noto un peggioramento delle prestazioni, un esempio con la mia 8800 gts prima glxgears mi dava sui 18000 e oltre fps adesso mi segna sui 10.000 e meno... anche gli screensaver vanno peggio
..vorrei sapere che cavolo hanno aggiornato... per andare peggio... :berto:

partendo dal fatto che ho una scheda ati radeon 9550 da 256Mb, comunque ho installato envy e ho installato i driver, ma non mi va lo stesso e quando vado in preferenze>effetti visivi e mettedo custom mi dice: The Composite extension is not available . cosa devo fare?

Prova a mettere in xorg.conf option "Composite" "Enable" se non sbaglio serve solo quello x abilitare il composite e visto che hai usato envy dovresti essere a posto per il resto, non ti aspettare scintille dalla tua ati attiva un numero limitato di effetti sennò rallenta parecchio specie con gli aggiornamenti recenti...

ah ma tra l'altro il compiz config ce l'hai messo??? senno molte opzioni non le puoi attivare...
