Perchè se una query restituisce 0 risultati mysql_num_rows restituisce errore invece di 0?

Il codice è questo:

    $this->query="SELECT * FROM amministratori WHERE user='".$this->user."' AND password='".$this->password."'";
        $this->connetti();
        $this->esegui=mysql_query($this->query, $this->connetti) or die("Errore nella query: ".mysql_error());
        $this->num= mysql_num_rows($this->esegui) or die("Errore: ".mysql_error());

Non "restituisce errore", semplicemente il codice che hai scritto "dice" al PHP di eseguire il die() nel caso in cui mysql_num_rows() restituisce "false" oppure un valore che, attraverso il type cast, è assimilabile a "false" (ovver, 0).
