Sfondo per myspace con immagine con due colonne...

ciao a tutti; vorrei utlizzare per il myspace del mio gruppo un'immagine composta da una parte centrale nera e due colonne laterali colorate; ho realizzato l'immagine, solo che a seconda di quale schermo viene usato per la visualizzazione, l'immagine o manca o viene tagliata....

solo che, quando vado ad inserire le div suggerite, mettendo l'url dell'immagine che deve fungere da colonna, non succede niente....

navigando in rete, ho letto che potrei risolvere il problema aggiungendo due colonne con apposite div, impostando l'immagine come sfondo; ho fatto dei tentativi, ma non sapendo scrivere in html o css che sia, non ne ho ricavato nulla....
