HTML5 new markup can be used in all browser.
Even on IE, if you accept to include a <1kb javascript to recognize new elements (only on IE)
HTML5 new features could be used instead doing some previous feature-detection.
Nothing new.
But a lot of new sites already have the html5 doctype (and they use the new markup elements)

I prefer to use html5 because of its new features like offline storing, canvassing, multimedia functionality (audio and video), header, footer and many more. It is an outstanding version of html which will make web designing easier.
