    NewBie alle prese con mandrake 10.0 chiede aiuto relativo a problema di velocita

    Salve a tutti come premesso dal titolo sono navigato di win (non mi assalite ) ma un grandissimo newbie del pinguino.Ho installato la mandrake perche tutti quanti,specialmente all universita mi hanno consigliato questa relase come la migliore per iniziare ad abituarsi a linux per poi passare alla slack.
    Il mio problema è questo:
    Ogni volta ke apro una applicazione sia questa un browser internet o 1 player musicale ,scatta il mouse...!!!
    Allora il sistema operativo è installato su un hdd IBM da 30 gb collegato in slave al canale primary,su una partizione ext2 con 256 mb di swap considerando ke ho 768 mb di ram DDr. Il processore è un AMD 2100+ la scheda madre una a7v333-X (quindi un chipset VIA),la scheda video una Shappyre AtI radeon 9200 da 128 mb.
    Quindi questa è la mia configurazione.Premesso questo io penso ke il problema dipenda o dai driver del dma,o dal fatto ke magar il sistema operativo è installato su un ibm su canale primary in slave,se magari lo installassi sul maxtor che è master sul canale primary si risolverebbe il prob (anke se mi sembra strano).Puo magari dipendere dall inaduegata installazione (fatta dalla mandrake) dei driver ATI??o magari i driver ke gestiscono il chipset della scheda madre non sono correttamente installati??
    secondo voi conviene ke io utilizzi la mandrake per imparare ,o è meglio ke passi alla red hat,o magari a fedora o direttamente alla slackware?

    io l'ho visto seccedere a causa del chipset non supportato e si è risolto in quel caso mettendo nel kernel il supporto per il chipset nforce

    se la tua scheda ha un chipset via dovrebbe esere tranquillamente supportata puoi provare ad aggiornare il kernel
    dai un dmesg da terminale di root per vedere come viene riconosciuto il tuo hardware



    proprio stamani sono state messe on line le repository per le update della mandrake 10 final

    da li puoi scaricare il nuovo kernel

    se poi vuoi provare ad aggionare tutto ed hai l'adsl

    il comando dmesg lo devi dare aprendo un terminale o consolle dal menu

    linux è fondamentalmente quello ed la sua maggiore forza

    quando hai aperto un terminale devi scrivere

    su (invio)

    poi mettere la password di root che hai scelto durante l'installazione
    poi dare questo comando che ti elenca tutte le specifiche hardware se incolli nel post il risultato di questo comando ci è possibile a volte capire cosa sta succedendo

    1. impara con mandrake, è sicuramente una delle più facili con cui imparare, anche per la mole di configurazioni che puoi fare tramite interfacce grafiche.

    2. se vuoi velocità usa icewm come xwindows (sistema grafico) piuttosto di kde (che pesa un casino anche se staresti ore e ore ad ammirarlo).


    io sto usando mandrake 10 su un P2 a 350 Mhz, Hd 20 giga, 64Mb Ram 100Mhz, sv Ati 4Mb, sa SB128pci

    con kde mi va tipo lumaca, con icewm si ragiona.

    non è che sia una scheggia, ma al boot è pià veloce del win2kPro su Amd Atlhon 2000xp hd 80gb 256ram 333Mhz sv sapphire ati radeon 9000 atlantis vivo, sa SB128pci

    tra l'altro uso questo pc come server di rete, condivide la connessione al client win2kPro tramite lan.

    ricorda che con icewm non ti appare il desktop
    usa konqueror alla stregua di esplora risorse in windows, è uguale, e da questo puoi andare al tuo desktop "/home/tuoaccount/Desktop"

    ricorda che linux fa differenze tra lettere minuscole e maiuscole (case sensitive).

    ragazzi questo è il mio dmesg aiutatemi perche il problema del mouse che scatta rimane!! non mi scattano le applicazioni anzi,mi scatta solo il mouse qnd carica le applicazioni...why...ah da come vedrete dal dmesg ho 2 partizioni (una ntfs e una fat32) non correttamente caricate in linux,ci sto lavorando spero di arrivarci da solo!!
    Al limite chiedero il vostro aiuto

    application bug: crond(3155) has SIGCHLD set to SIG_IGN but calls wait().
    (see the NOTES section of 'man 2 wait'). Workaround activated.

    Anch'io avevo lo stesso problema con la Mandrake 10, ma l'ho risolto passando al kernel 2.6.7-7mdk Ti consiglio di farlo anche tu, visto che il nuovo kernel è molto più veloce.

    sembra ci siano un po di problemini tra la tua scheda video ed una presumibile scheda tv oltre alla partizione ntfs con una incongruenza nel partition table

    che scheda video hai ?
