[c++] perche non mi conpila??

ciao amicici
ho ancora quel problema che vi avevo sottoposto qualche giorno fa.
ho installato nella mia macchina devc++ ver 4.9.8.0 e quando provo a compilare un semplice programma ricevo un errore su un file che credo faccia parte delle librerie standard di c++.

questo che segue è il mio programmino di prova:

cout << " CIAO CIAO !! ";
return 0;
}

quando provo a compilarlo si apre il file cstdio in una nuova finestra su devc++ che segnala come errore con un pallino rosso la riga #include <cstddef>

come posso risolvere??
bisogna settare qualcosa su devc++?

non m'intendo di programmazione, ma in questo semplice programmino non si dovrebbe forse mettere la parola chiave int prima di main?

(4.9.8.0) non è la versione più recente...

forse hai creato un file C (main.c) non C++ (main.cpp)

p.s. in un file .cpp quel codice funziona.
