Dal sito ufficiale risulta che nell'ultima release delle GD Gallery sia stato reinserito il supporto per le immagini gif, nella sezione di download spicca però questo messaggio

Io uso PHP 4.3.3 quindi non devo mettere la patch (vero?) eppure non mi riconosce la funzione ImageGif (Fatal error: Call to undefined function: imagegif() in....) mentre le altre funzionano...
Cosa sbaglio? Errore mio? Ho interpretato male le spiegazioni? (viva l'inglese) o son solo sfigato?
