Un dubbio sull'MTU

Si se ne è parlato in abbondanza. Ma oggi, cercando di ottimizzare il mio router, ho settato l'MTU a 1500 e il rapporto dal sito di Speedguide è il seguente:

Prima di andare ad aggiustare anche l'MSS mi chiedo una cosa. Poichè sappiamo che windows XP non riesce ad impostare l'MTU ad un valore superiore a 1492, sto per caso avendo un risultato fasullo?
Sono un po' dubbioso anche perchè con TCPOptimizer ho avuto questo rapporto di MaxMTU

The largest possible non-fragmented packet is 1472 (1500 - 28 ICMP & IP headers).
You can set your MTU to 1500

E' ovvio che il merito è del router ma mi conviene lasciare così? (in questo caso correggerei l'MSS a 32120).

se hai un router, mtu va settato li ed ecco perchè compare 1500 nel test
mss è sempre mtu-40
rwin per una 640 va messo mss per 22

Adesso sto sbattendo sul multiplexing: mi *sembra* che l' LLC sia più efficiente del VC. Il fatto è che funzionano entrambi e che comunque sto avendo risultati di velocità un po' deludenti (col modem usb andavo molto più veloce).
Comunque sto continuando con i tests.

non ci dovrebbe essere differenza di prestazioni nell'incapsulamento; comunque se è in PPPoA lascialo su Vc-mux.
hai problemi di velocità?
prova a fare da dos ping maya.ngi.it copia e incolla i risultati.

il ping sul tuo tratto è ok; potrebbe essere un problema legato al tuo link di raccolta. ma dagli speed test a quanto vai di media?

McLink mi ha appena dato 486/56. Ora passi per il 486 in down, ma il 56 in up fa schifo ...

Anche http://digilander.libero.it/pabasoftware/speedtest/ mi da circa 483 Kbits in down. Ho visto giorni migliori ...
