1.locate and edit the file C:\WINDOWS\INF\SYSOC.INF
(2) locate a section called [Components]
(3) find a line like this:
iis=iis.dll,OcEntry,iis.inf,hide,7
(4) change it to this (the iis cab in the i386 xp home folder looks to be nothing)
iis=iis2.dll,OcEntry,iis2.inf,,7
5)Copied the IIS.dl_ and IIS.in_ and iissuba.dl_ files from Windows 2000 server cd.
6)Created iis2.dll and iis2.inf from these two files(IIS.dl_ and iis.in_)by usign the expand command as given below:
Expand iis.dl_ iis2.dll
expand iis.in_ iis2.inf
Expand iissuba.dl_ iissuba.dll
7) Copy the iis2.dll and iissuba.dll to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SETUP folder.
8)Copy the iis2.inf file to C:\WINDOWS\INF folder.
9)Now go to add remove program dialog you will get the Internet Information server option.Check the Internet Information server option and click details button then you will get the component to be installed.Unchecked the SMTP server and ftp server (because when i did first 3 times i couldn't able to start spmtp server which caused the problem)The idea is to first to install webserver alone.
10)Now click ok to install it will ask for a dll from Windows 200O server cd.i gave the cd and after some it asked for dll from XP home editon (I have copied XP home I386 folder in my hard driver)I gave teh path location of that folder and it got installed.
11) Restart the machine.
12)restart the IIS throw command prompt(iisreset /restart) or from Inetrnet service administrator(internet service administrator will be in controlpanel->administrative tools folder)
13)right click on default website and select properties
14)Click on Directory Security Tab.
15)Click the Edit button in "Anonymous access and authentication control" section.
16)Authentication method dialog will come there with Anonymous access and Integrated Windows authentication opetion checked.
17)Click edit button in the Anonymous access section(in the top)
18)Now Anonymous user access dialog box will cone there be sure to uncheck the option "Allow IIS to control password"
and select user name as IUSER_yoor computer name if the user name is not there click find and select from the list.
19)Select Home Directory Tab.
20)In the "application protection" Combo box select Low(IIS Process) option
21)Now give OK to all open dialog boxes.
22)Now from Administrative tool in control panel open Component services manger.
23)Click my computer.
24)Select DCOM Config.
25)In the right side panel select IIS admin
service ->right click ->select properties->select Security tab->here set Launch and Activation permission to default.
26)Click OK.
27)Restart the IIS.Open the browser and type
