Dilemma: <blockquote> in <p>

Da un punto di vista squisitamente tecnico, è corretto inserire una citazione di tipo blockquote all'interno di un paragrafo, nel caso che la citazione sia considerevolmente lunga? Potete fornirmi delle reference? E' una discussione che mi interessa parecchio. Grazie a tutti voi! :master:

C'è un problema: se io ho un paragrafo, al cui interno c'è una citazione tratta da, poniamo, Nietzsche, come faccio a non interrompere il flusso del paragrafo? Blockquote crea un'altra sezione di blocco.... :master:

La spec. dice:

Questi due elementi designano testo citato. BLOCKQUOTE è usato per citazioni lunghe (contenuto a livello di blocco) mentre Q è destinato a citazioni brevi (contenuto in riga) che non richiedono interruzioni di paragrafo.

Ma se la citazione è lunga e all'interno di un paragrafo? :master:

bhe potresti formattare il blockquote come un paragrafo, come se fosse uguale agli altri!
Cmq credo che nessuno ti vieti di mettere un blockquote in un p! provaci e fai una validazione

Hey tedster,

I stuck the blockquote code from my previous post into a html4.01 strict page (nothing else on the page) and it validated fine.

Then I removed the

and </p> tags and it threw up errors. Have you tried surrounding the quotation text with

tags?

mipapage: The trailing "/" is fof XHTML, I don't think that it's at all necessary in HTML4.01...


I think that must be it --

tags are required ina <blockquote>. But that gets into cross browser rendering issues that I didn't want to mess with. Oh, well.

Funny thing is both

and <blockquote> are block elements. And a

cannot contain a <blockquote> -- except that rule may change in XHTML 2.0
