    E: Il pacchetto gdesklets non è stato trovato
    allora, stavo seguendo una guida per installare gdesklets, a quel punto dopo aver fatto
    # yum install apt
    che non avevo ancora, ho editato il file di reposity

    cosi..
    a quel punto la guida mi diceva di lanciare il comando
    # apt-cache search gdesklets

    ed mi è apparso quanto sopra..

    VVoVe: ! sarà il caso che torno a windows ?!?!

    si mi sembra che apt ti ha fatto danno

    lo ha fatto anche a me con un paio di file ma lanciando synaptic se lo hai installato poi rimuovere le versioni vecchie dei file poi torna tutto normale
    apt e yum non vanno molto daccordo
    apt andrebbe usato solo per installare le cose che yum non trova esclusivamente
    poi chiaramente bisogna anche vedere che server aveva peimpostati apt

    conosci un url di reposity apt per fedora 4, probabilmente il problema sta li:
    [root@localhost matteo]# apt-get install synaptic
    Lettura della lista di pacchetti... Done
    Calcolo dell'albero delle dipendenze... Done
    Verranno installati i seguenti pacchetti extra:
    apt (0.5.15cnc7-57.rhfc4.at)
    atrpms-package-config (103-1.rhfc4.at)
    Verranno aggiornati i seguenti pacchetti
    apt (0.5.15cnc7-6.fc4 => 0.5.15cnc7-57.rhfc4.at)
    Saranno installati i seguenti pacchetti NUOVI:
    atrpms-package-config (103-1.rhfc4.at)
    synaptic (0.57-22.rhfc4.at)
    1 upgraded, 2 newly installed, 0 removed and 206 not upgraded.

    i server che hai mi sembrano buoni
    ma è meglio usare yum per fedora

    l'errore di synaptic in /etc/apt/apt.conf devi disattivare la firma sui pacchetti altrimenti non ti installa niente mettendo nella riga GPG-Check "true";
    GPG-Check "false";

    io in genere uso i server di livna o dag per apt adesso ho

    rpm http://ayo.freshrpms.net fedora/linux/4/i386 core updates freshrpms
    rpm http://ayo.freshrpms.net fedora/linux/4/i386 tupdates
    rpm-src http://ayo.freshrpms.net fedora/linux/4/i386 core updates freshrpms
    rpm-src http://ayo.freshrpms.net fedora/linux/4/i386 tupdates

    rpm http://apt.sw.be fedora/4/en/i386 dag
    rpm http://apt.sw.be dries/fedora/fc4/i386 dries
    rpm http://ayo.freshrpms.net fedora/linux/development/i386 core

    io prima usavo suse e diciamo che yast era piu semplice, essendo avvicinato da poco a fedora, sto sperimentando i vari gestori di pacchetti, ma con yum come si controllano le varie dipendenze?

    yum fa da se ed è abbastanza preciso
    è un po lento da usare ma è abbastanza sicuro

    installa kyum semmai
    anche a yum puoi aggiungere gli stessi server di apt

    guarda ad esempio sui siti di livna cisono tutte le spiegazioni http://rpm.livna.org/configuration.html

    Con Fedora4 64bit non posso usare apt proprio per via dei pacchetti doppi (32bit e 64bit che per apt sono identici).
    Uso invece smart che mi sostituisce sia yum che apt e che finora è sempre andato alla grande.
