    xorg.conf:cosa sbaglio?

    Ciao
    sulla mia Slack 10 stò tentando di utilizzare la mia scheda video ATI RAGE 128, modificando il file xorg.conf, ma non ci riesco. Il modulo r128 viene caricato all'avvio, ma non viene utilizzato. Qualcuno mi sa dire dove sbaglio?

    Le varie versioni della Mandrake che usavo prima e pure la 10 che ho installato adesso utilizzano quel modulo. A meno che la Slack non lo chiami in modo diverso...

    Ho pure provato a copiare pari-pari il xorg.conf della Mandrake sulla Slack, ma non si avviava il server x.

    Niente da fare! Da glxinfo la risposta è sempre: direct rendering: no
    Come posso sapere se almeno il server x utilizza i drivers della scheda ( Ati rage 128 ) , visto che il modulo r128 viene caricato all'avvio, pur se senza accelerazione video?

    apgart è abilitato come modulo, infatti lo carica al boot.Perchè il chipset della mb?

    Se ti può essere di aiuto, uso la tua scheda anche io, con Slackware funziona tranquilla senza problemi utilizzando il file di configurazione della Kanotix .

    la mia Eduknoppix (basata su Knoppix, kernel 2.4.27) abilita il 3D usando il driver ati

    Però al boot gli devo dare Knoppix xmodule=ati altrimenti mi carica la versione con il driver vesa ed il 3D non funziona.

    confermo, anche a me la Kanotix usa il driver "r128", ma tu prova a mettere "ati", dovrebbe funzionare. Il driver radeon non va bene per questa scheda (non è una radeon).
