white-space differenza chrome da altri browser

Ciao a Tutti
ho semplificato al massimo il codice qui sotto.
la domanda è come mai la visualizzazione con firefox, edge e safari(mac) è esattamente la stessa.
il problema è che chrome interpreta diversamente il tag   e non so...

chrome interpreta diversamente il tag  

che significa?

intanto parliamo di un carattere (nello specifico della sua entità), non di un marcatore. quindi non è un tag.
guardando il codice si nota che hai l'hai usato per posizionare il testo. è proprio l'idea di usarlo per far questo che non va bene. in quel contesto serve una tabella, oppure un'inscatolamento con divisori.
