menu a cascata e dichiarazione variabili

Ho un menu a cascata che richiama un file menu.js per creare il menu. In explorer funziona, ma in firefox no perchè dice che ogni variabile non è definita. La soluzione qual è? Devo definire tutte le variabili? Ci sono altri metodi?

posta il codice relativo al menu... se funziona su IE ma non con FF posso immaginare che i riferimenti agli oggetti siano del tipo document.all
